Doctor McCoy seems to have had his memory tampered with, quite possibly a side effect of the current events on the ship. He has no recollection of our acquaintance. He asked if you had sent me to bring him food, and I said yes.
Kindly maintain the cover as long as necessary. I have no wish to upset him unduly.
[Dr. McCoy had sounded normal earlier, if not a bit prickly: either way, a far cry from Stephen's panic attack. Maybe, Yujin had hoped, the man had escaped from his encounter with Olivia unscathed.
Not so, it seems.] I see. [he replies, his weary sigh not picked up by the text.] I shall. Thank you for warning me, Itachi-san.
Should I find it relevant, I will inform you if I come to learn more.

I understand your condolence is kindly meant, but it is not necessary. It presents only logistical issues, and carries with it more broadly positioned implications than to Doctor McCoy or myself alone.
Be mindful of the others. Should anyone else begin experiencing like symptoms, we may be looking at an additional affect of these memory events.

Thus far I've only witnessed symptoms of heightened stress and anxiety in others. But rest assured, I will be taking careful note if that changes.
There is no need to apologize. You are a doctor — your instinct is to offer comfort when you feel it due. You do not know me well enough to make another choice, and I would not wish to discourage you from that instinct.

I appreciate that, Itachi-san. [is about all he can say to that, really; as has been the case every time Yujin has spoken to the young man, Itachi is... difficult to decipher. But he's polite about it, anyway.
As for the explanation? Yujin, indeed believing the brief blip to be a glitch in the headsets, doesn't note the interruption-- but the revelation does give him pause. Unseen, he pinches the bridge of his nose. With the orbs, the issues do seem to be endless.]
That's incredibly concerning. If they can manipulate our memories to such an degree-- even outside of changing one's regret-- who is to say this will not continue to happen? They are entities of chaos. To the orbs, anything might be an "appropriate impetus".
Might I suggest, sensei, that you take the opportunity to write down anything of import to you in a manner that would convince you should the same fate befall you?
οΌ he's already done as much, a series of complex ciphers that can only be decoded with the sharingan. but not everyone has that luxury. οΌ
I would argue that. It is predictable in two things — their lust for chaos and for cruelty. Some of the orbs, individually, have been less malevolent than others. The one in Kilnan was more petulant, like a selfish child. The one in Badrock was perhaps the worst we have faced so far.
But they are all parts of a larger whole, and that cannot be discounted.
I do not doubt you, but I haven't sensed any sort of will or motivation from the three orbs that were gathered during my time here. Perhaps we were fortunate with those.
I don't believe it has anything to do with observational skills, sensei. You are correct in saying that the last three we have returned to the Ximilia have not been as overtly terrible as some of those encountered in my time here.
However, our luck cannot hold forever. It is possible that the next world we visit, or the next, will represent a return to form. Be on your guard.

I cannot imagine it is easy, to be forgotten. I'm sorry.
If there is anything else I can do to help, I am at your service.

Has anything like this happened before?

I have little desire to alter my regret, but if I have learned anything from my time here, it is that the will of the orbs is unpredictable.
