Lawyers do all sorts of things, really, from preparing documents such as wills all the way up to arguing in a criminal trial. It's really a rather diverse line of work. Naruhodo in particular is a defense attorney: he advocates for a person accused of a crime. As for the final voice, depending on where you are located, that might be either the judge or the jury.
Naruhodo is new to the profession, but I do believe he will be one of our brightest one day. Japan will need that. Our criminal justice system is in its infancy and sorely needs the guidance.

A civil war occurred in my country when I was a bit younger than you are now. But Japan is merely a small nation in a much larger world. There are, it seems, countless small wars occurring in every corner of the globe... Every country wants to stake its claim on as big a piece of the world as it can get.
