[Late enough that Yujin was already asleep, actually. Still unaccustomed to receiving messages directly to his brain, he wakes up for it, then-- realizing who and what it is--- just. squints blearily up at his room's dark ceiling for a minute. Save for Ryunosuke's soft snores, it's silent as the grave. What time is it?
[While the rescue itself had gone off without a hitch (in Finn's opinion), the usefulness that instilled in him was regrettably shortlived. With little to offer from a technological perspective and nothing to offer magically, Finn was busying himself in other areas. Today, it's the infirmary.
He sends Yujin a photo of two nearly-identical bandages. One sunny yellow, the other a pastel lavender dotted with dark purple buds.]
Hey, Professor! Hope you're feeling a little better. Which of these do you think is more Ryunosuke's vibe?
[He's doing great, thankfully: his ears aren't ringing anymore, and any lingering bumps and bruises are on their way out. Yujin's just left the infirmary for a snack in the kitchen when he gets the text]
Hello, Finn. I'm much better, thank you. Naruhodo and I owe you our lives. But... where on earth did you find dynamite on the ship?
[Speaking of:] Also, I say the yellow. Assuming that "vibe" means it suits his disposition. [he's so cool and hip.]
[The ship was abuzz with conversations about the latest mission dossier, and Finn had spent the entire day feeding off the energy. Finally, they were getting off the ship and out into the world! Finn could hardly wait.
... That said, there was one question still on his mind. This finds Yujin around when he's sitting down to dinner in the mess.]
Yo Professor, I got a quick question! If you had to pick between sword, axe, or mace... which would you pick?
[Finn's timing is perfect. Poring over the dossier has taken first priority for Yujin: all day, he's been missing other bits of crew chatter in favor of jotting down more notes. But eventually, his stomach reminds him of the time. When he sits down to eat, who else should pop into his earpiece but--]
Good evening, Mr. Finn.
[That's a good question. He pokes thoughtfully at a bit of roasted potato on his plate before replying.]
Sword, I'd say? It isn't as heavy as the other choices, but it isn't such a blunt force, either. You have dexterity with a blade.

Nevertheless, he replies:]
ME RI KU RI SU MA SU
Merry Christmas

Thanks, Professor!
Some time later, several days post-explosive rescue...

β¦and thereβs a whole armory here, Professor. And a computer that will make anything you want.

2) And the computer just let him have it? ]
Yes. Noted. I suppose we were lucky you thought to take some along.

[There's a break in Finn's messages, but not a particularly long one. A couple minutes later, he's back.]
Okay so: what do you call a musician who's just been stabbed?
no subject
I haven't a clue. What do you call them?

a scabbard
[ hold for laughter ]

Oh! A scab... bard? π
[Finn, he's a dad and even he thought that one was pretty bad.]
